LASIK: Do It For Yourself

April 03, 2010

There has been much discussion about LASIK on this site and others about the technology, the cost, experience, and outcomes.  At the end of the day, each person must make a decision about whether vision correction is the right decision for them.  While many people try to logically make a decision if LASIK is a good choice, and if this is a good time, what most people ultimately find after having LASIK is that it was one of the best decisions that they ever made.  Why?  Because it frees them from the constant tether to glasses or contact lenses which were the only alternative.  We make many decisions throughout our lives to improve our quality of life, and LASIK is perhaps one of the most important of those decisions.

Invest in LASIK: the Cost is Reasonable and the Results are Priceless

December 06, 2009
For many people considering LASIK the question of cost is a major factor in their decision. While it is true that if one has one old pair of glasses and does not get regular eye-care, the costs can sound prohibitive, for most people it is actually quite affordable. Let us take a look at what most people spend at the eye doctor over a five to ten year span, and we can see that LASIK is a breakeven proposition over this time horizon. When the additional considerations of designer glasses, special coatings, and bifocals are considered, this can be covered in three years. And if flexible spending accounts are utilized, the time to break even can be as little as two years. This is coincidentally the time of no interest financing that is offered which makes LASIK, from a cost perspective, even more inviting.
