The Four C's Of LASIK
When it comes to medical procedures, CREDIBILITY is perhaps the most important consideration. This one word takes into account many facets (diamonds again?) of making a choice about providers for all kinds of services. One looks to training, experience, credentials, as a start and then also there is the word of mouth referral aspect that others have put their faith into a particular provider and were satisfied with the outcome. Credibility takes time to establish and is largely based on trust. When you are putting a body part in the hands of someone else to tinker with, you want to be sure that they know what they are doing and have confidence in the outcome. Without bragging or restating the obvious, our entire practice is about credibility. If you look at the other posts on this blog, flip through our site online, or visit with us, we hope that this message is clear. We can try to establish credibility but it is up to you to determine whether we have it. Our goal is to be the most credible LASIK vision provider in the Denver area. This does not say that we are claiming any superiority to any other practice or doctor, it is just our mission and we want to communicate that we understand how important it is to establish and maintain our credibility with both our patients, their families, and the many doctors who refer to us.
The first question that everyone asks when they call or visit is about COST. That is because there is the perception that with high credibility comes high cost. This is not the case and to neutralize this concern we have adopted our "guaranteed lowest price" pledge. Basically while you can find LASIK at a lower price, you cannot find Custom Blade Free LASIK at a lower price. In fact the variations in price for LASIK in this and most markets is surprisingly small in spite of what some advertising might lead you to believe. There are fixed costs in providing the latest in laser vision correction and to a large extent this controls the pricing of this procedure. Like any business there can be some economies of scale and therefore a LASIK center that is busy can provide slightly better pricing. This is one area that you do not want to cut corners and have older technology because although the older procedures are still approved, there is a greater chance that you will not be as satisfied with the results. You can look to other posts on this blog and our site for more information on this topic or call us and we will fill you in more on the differences between LASIK procedures.
Many people question why we perform our procedures in our own Colorado licensed surgical center. Besides the obvious reasons that it is a more controlled environment than simply using commercial office space, it offers real benefits to patients. One of these benefits is that we can give appropriate sedation prior and during the procedure to make sure that the COMFORT of having LASIK makes it an easier experience. Almost everyone who has LASIK with us says that it was much easier than they thought it would be and is surprised at how smooth the process was for them. This is because we have a large center dedicated to this procedure and the patient flow is controlled, efficient, and that we pay attention to patient comfort at every step in the process. Starting with reassurance by answering questions by highly qualified staff and doctors, testing multiple times for accuracy of data, and taking away the fear of the unkown by providing a tour of the facility prior to the actual procedure, our patients know what they will experience prior to their procedure. By adding to this a well balanced oral sedative, we have our patients in a relaxed state prior to their actual LASIK procedure. And when you add to this the latest in blade free (no needles, no blades, all light) LASIK there is very little perception of any sensation during the actual procedure. Furthermore, we give everyone an appropriate amount of medication to take home just in case there is some discomfort during the first day after the procedure.
Finally there is convenience which is not only that we have ample parking, are easy to find, and we have a spacious well appointed waiting area but also this is about the entire experience. There is the convenience of being able to make an appointment early in the morning, over your lunch hour, and just about whenever you need it. There is the convenience of our staff being available 24/7 for emergencies. There is the convenience that we will respond to your calls and your e-mails promptly. In the bigger picture, there is the convenience that we make evaluating, participating, and recovering from LASIK have the minimum impact on your daily life as possible. Most patients find that they need just a few quick visits after the procedure to reassure us and themselves that they are doing well.
So there you have it, our four C's of LASIK. If you have any additional questions or comments please visit us online or call us at your covenience.
