Guaranteed Lowest Price

There is a perception that if one goes to a large corporate entity, one will get better value than a small boutique individually owned store.  While this has proven true for big box stores like Walmart or Home Depot, it is not necessarily true for service based businesses.  As an example, large corporate tax preparation entities are not going to be less expensive than your local tax accountant.  In the field of medical services, we rarely have to consider cost since most medical care is covered, at least in part, by health insurance.  For health care that is outside of that system, we can look at plastic surgery for example and find that the costs for most procedures are fairly constant and the differences are largely due to the reputation of the doctor involved.

When it comes to LASIK, or laser vision correction (LVC), there is the perception by many that this is really a commodity, like buying a plane ticket, and cost is the most important consideration.  It is also the easiest consideration to compare between providers.  Since we began performing laser vision correction (LASIK) about 15 years ago, there has been much competition in this field, and a large portion of the competition is from corporate providers.  These  companies have been started to profit on the laser vision field.  Many are traded on the stock market or in some cases by regional privately owned entities who all open LASIK shops throughout the country, and then market these using the same techniques of corporate America.  The basic concept here is that there is interchangibility of providers and staffs (like flying in an airplane) and that the sales pitch is that costs will be more affordable and the service more reliable by a large entity. We all know that this is not always true.

We have decided to deal with the cost issue very directly, since this is the most sensitive subject.  We guarantee the lowest price for a comparable procedure.  This simply means that our patients are getting the best price for a blade free custom procedure as compared to any other provider in the region.  This dispels the notion that because we can be seen has a boutique provider that we will cost more, we do not.  It is really not that hard to understand why this is the case.  First of all, we have been in the same location for 25 years, and that means we have paid for most of the costs that new centers must undertake.  Second, we have no shareholders to make happy or requirements to pay dividends.  Finally we can control our costs closely, do not need huge advertising budgets, and have achieved efficiencies that many are not capable of without more experience.  We really don't cost more, but do we do offer a better service?  You will have to be the judge of that, for such a decision is subjective.

Doctors are not allowed to directly compare themselves to others, not allowed to make claims of superiority as an ethical matter, and we do not.   Dr. Dishler is a member of Trusted LASIK Surgeons, a prestigious organization, as well as being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Board Certified Ophthalmologist. What we can say is that we are highly experienced, that we have the very latest and best technology, and that we operate out of a modern and state licensed facility which adheres to very high standards.  We can also say that most of our patients achieve very excellent results, and that we have statistics to show our results for specific corrections which is a much better gauge of performance than some guarantee of results.  No one can in fact guarantee results, only a refund if the results are less than promised, and this is not that valuable in that most centers, including ours offer to perform retreatments (or enhancements) if the results are less than those desired at no additional charge.  Our patient satisfaction is extremely high.

While LASIK (or in some cases PRK) is an excellent procedure, with an outstanding record, it is still surgery, and it is still a medical procedure that needs to be based on the skills and experience of the doctors, nurses, and others who provide these services.  While it is unusual for there to be problems, it is wise to consider that an intelligent decision was made by the center to perform these procedures based on many clinical variables, that the best procedure is performed, and that the care afterward is appropriate for an individual case.  Although we use lasers and other high technology devices, in the end it is still the art of medicine along with the science.  Most people would not pick the low bidder or generic doctor for brain surgery or even to have their knee arthroscope, then why would that be reasonable for eye surgery?  Likewise, most people would rely on the standard that has stood the test of time, the referral from a doctor or a trusted friend or family member in making medical decisions.  We suggest that you use the same standard when considering laser vision correction.  Ask your primary eye doctor, or your family or friends as to where they have experience in this area, and rely on that as an important factor in making this decision.

One final word on costs is that there is less variability in cost of laser vision correction that some would have you believe.  When comparing state of the art technology vision correction services there is some variation in costs, but from the lower end where we choose to be to the highest end when one factors in specials, discounts, etc. -- the final "street price" is based on factors that are similar for many providers and therefore fairly constant.   You will only save about  $1000-$2000 on average by coming to us as opposed to a more expensive alternative.  Therefore, we suggest that you pick the laser center based on medical competence, and make the financial considerations secondary in this decision.

Perhaps even more important than price for most people is cash flow.  This is why we work very hard with two different finance companies to make this procedure affordable by offering no interest financing options at no additional cost.  We welcome you to visit us for a no charge evaluation of your eyes and your finances to see if LASIK is the right decision for you and your family.
